PATHANAMTHITTA: Solar scam-accused Saritha S. Nair and her accomplice Biju Radhakrishan were sentenced to three years’  rigorous imprisonment by the Pathanamthitta Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Thursday in the first verdict in the sensational cases. 

Biju was also fined  Rs 75 lakh and Saritha Rs 45 lakh by magistrate R. Jayakrishnan who convicted them on the charges of forgery, cheating  and conspiracy.

The case was registered by NRI businessman E.K. Baburaj of Idayaranmula here, alleging  a RS 1.19-crore fraud by the duo who promised  him the post of managing director in their company, Team Solar.

The case registered at Aranmula police station in 2013 was investigated by a team led by ADGP A. Hemachandran.

Biju Radhakrishnan was the prime accused in the case.  Saritha was granted bail while Mr. Biju’s plea was rejected as he is  undergoing life term for the murder of his wife Reshmi.

Saritha said outside the court that she would file an appeal against the verdict within a week. She also expressed her disappointment that “the court could not find the truth.”
