Boys bag top ten ranks in engineering entrance examinations

Thiruvananthapuram: Boys bagged all the first ten ranks in the engineering entrance examinations unlike in the medical entrance test in which girls topped. The results were announced by Education Minister P. K. Abdu Rabb here on Tuesday.
B. Arjun of Thiruvananthapuram bagged the first rank scoring 578 marks. Aamir Hassan won the second rank (577) and P. Sreerag third (576). They both belong to Kozhikode.
G.K. Nithin of Thiruvananthapuram secured the fourth rank while K. Sreehari of Kannur fifth.
Kevin Abraham Cherian of Ernakulam, K. Vinayak of Kozhikode, Shashwath Shukla of Ernakulam, R. Akhil Krishna of Pathanamthitta and V. Sujay of Ernakulam were ranked sixth to tenth.
In the SC category, B. Sarath of Cherthala, who secured the 73rd rank, came first while C.S. Karthik Baal of Ernakulam was second. In the ST category, V. Avinash of Kasargod topped the list and K.S. Midhun of Malappuram came second.
For architecture, Lisa Therese of Perinthalmanna bagged the first rank (321.6000) and M.R. Abhishek of Ernakulam came second (321.000). K. Devi Raj of Malappuram, Alphy George of Gurgaon, Haryana, and C.B. Lijith of Palakkad were ranked third to fifth.
Of the 1,11,109 candidates who wrote the engineering entrance examinations, 75,258 qualified. Of them 55,180, including 24,472 female candidates, who submitted their marks in the qualifying examination to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, have been included in the rank list.
