Hyderabad: The police found the body of a woman in an abandoned Indica car near the registration office in Prakashnagar on Tuesday. The residents of the area noticed a foul smell coming out from the car and alerted the police. The car was parked in that spot since a year. The police is trying to find out if the woman was killed by someone.

The woman, Padma, 35, was a ragpicker. After her husband left her she was living with her mother on the roadside in Prakashnagar. Whenever it rained they used to take shelter in the abandoned car.

“Three days ago she went missing. But her mother did not lodge any complaint thinking that she might be somewhere in the city collecting scrap,” said inspector G. Baswa Reddy.

“The owner of the car had abandoned it a year ago after it was totally damaged and the insurance cover also over,” added the inspector. Police registered a case and sent the body for postmortem examination. The case is under investigation.
