Kochi: Legal luminary T.P. Kelu Nambiar, who passed away in September 2012, still lives as far as the High Court registry is concerned.

For, it listed him  in the cause list for a bail application on June 2, shocking his family as well as the legal fraternity.  Incidentally, this is the  second faux pas  caused by the court registry in a fortnight.

The name of  the constitutional expert  was listed  as P.B. Ajoy, T.P. Kelu Nambiar for a bail application number 2960/2015.

Senior counsel K. Ram Kumar filed a complaint in this regard before the Chief Justice, Registrar-General and Kerala High Court Advocates Association.

“The carelessness, callousness and the cavalier manner in which the registry is preparing the cause list is evident from the case number 24 in court 3-C,” Mr Ram Kumar said in his complaint.

He said  the issue had to  be viewed seriously and stringent action should be taken.  Such instances cannot be viewed lightly in the wake of a division bench  initiating action against lawyers for the mistake caused by the registry, he added.

Recently, the division bench had criticised the lawyers and issued a notification that clients would be alerted if the lawyer skips a hearing. Later,  the court withdrew the order  finding that the issue was caused due to the error  by the High Court registry.
