While her style on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival got her a whole lot of attention, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also came under the scanner of the world press for clicking selfies with other international actors — this despite a widely publicised “no selfie” rule being put into effect for this 68th edition of the fest.

However, Ash’s team has clarified that the actress did not, in fact, break any rules whilst at Cannes, having sought permission from the festival director Thierry Fremaux to take pictures on the red carpet.

“After Ash’s selfie with Eva Longoria on the Cannes red carpet, there was a lot of talk about how she had broken the rule. So the next day, Ash checked with Mr Fremaux, and he said the rule was not meant for the stars but for other attendees. In fact, Mr Fremaux himself took a picture with Ash to put her mind at rest,” a source close to the actress told us.

We also hear that apart from all the other high profile schmoozing Ash engaged in, she shared a sweet exchange with Fast & Furious actress Michelle Rodriguez as well. “Michelle hugged Ash and told her how much she admired her style and her acting. They had a nice conversation and took photos together as well,” our source added.
