Hyderabad: The stage is set for the elevation of Nara Lokesh to a crucial post in Telugu Desam as party leaders erected banners and posters at the Mahanadu venue on Wednesday urging AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to give a crucial post to his son in the party.

During their speeches, party MPs, ministers, MLAs and MLCs were all vocal, stating that Mr Lokesh deserved a higher position in the party and urged the party leadership to elevate him in the ranks.

AP IT minister Dr Palle Raghunatha Reddy said that the youth was waiting for Mr Lokesh’s leadership. “The vision and experience of Mr Chandrababu Naidu and the young blood of Mr Lokesh will further strengthen the party. Both will take TD to such heights that there would be no party that can defeat TD in the next 40 years,” the minister said.

He said that if Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had looted public wealth by misusing former CM Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s power, here was a son and genuine party worker who was working to serve the people, particularly the downtrodden.

Several TD leaders vied with each other to greet Mr Lokesh and take selfies with him. Mr Naidu himself praised Mr Lokesh, though without taking his name, by appreciating the success of the 54-lakh party membership drive and for the party workers’ welfare fund, both overseen by Mr Lokesh.

Mr Lokesh met TD leaders, MPs, MLAs, and ministers, row by row, where they were seated. TD MLC Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that party leaders wanted Mr Lokesh to be given at least the general secretary’s post.
