New Delhi: An Arjuna awardee and international paraplegic athlete Deepa Malik has complained about deficient and callous service of Air India which  denied that any such incident has taken place.

On Sunday, Ms Malik flew to Surat from Delhi and came back on Monday. Recounting her experience, Ms Malik told the Deccan Chronicle that she had been given rusted wheelchairs with no arm-rest, foot-rest or safety-belts by Air India at Delhi airport. Even she had to wait in the Air India aircraft on Monday after landing  at Delhi for more than an hour, since “no ramp” was available.

“It’s sad and pathetic how I was treated and handled by Air India,” Ms Malik wrote in her complaint sent to the Air India as well as the civil aviation ministry.  said, in her e-mail complaint to Air India.

However, an Air India spokesperson brushed aside all these allegations and said, “No such incident has been brought to our notice. We have not received any complaint in this regard.”
