HyderabadIn an attempt to beat the searing heat in the city, even late in the evenings, people are thronging air-conditioned malls. Shopping malls across the city appear full towards the evening. The AC movie theatres too are mostly running full house since the last few days.

The heatwave has taken a toll on the business of hawkers, vendors, and even rythu bazaars have been suffering losses.
If the temperature recorded is above 45ºC, the Met department announces there is a heatwave. For a severe heatwave warning to be issued, temperature recorded should be above 47ºC.

Meanwhile, fire accidents have also seen a rise in TS in the last two weeks. While earlier, the department used to receive 25-30 calls per day from across the state, it is now handling over 70 calls on an average. A senior official he was surprised by the the almost 100 per cent spike in the number of calls.
