The Next Thing Co has designed a $9 credit-sized computer - CHIP. The CHIP computer is powered with a 1GHz processor, runs on Linux OS, offers 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. One can edit spreadsheets, create word documents, or craft presentations using the in-built LibreOffice. Users of CHIP can also play video games with the help of a Bluetooth controller.

Additionally, you can also surf the web via WiFi. The new CHIP is also capable of teaching you new codes. The programming course will include basic codes meant for online content, games and animations. 

 

To make it even more user friendly, the Next Thing Co. introduced the Pocket CHIP with a 4.3-inch (470 x 272 pixels) display, offers a QWERTY keyboard and is fuelled with a 3,000mAH battery.

The company claims that CHIP. will be functional with small and large screens as well. This pocket-sized Chip computer has a built-in composite output. You can also add a simple adapter for either VGA or HDM. If you connect a MIDI keyboard to CHIP, this device can also be used as a portable music player.

CHIP can be most beneficial for students, teachers, grandparents and young inventors. Its developers have used the Allwinner Technology to insure for documentation and source code for the System on Chip and Power Management.

At present, the CHIP computer is still in its early development stage and is expected to launch in 2016.
