Hyderabad: A bit of Hyderabad made an appearance at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival as Sonam Kapoor was spotted wearing Suhani Pittie earrings. From Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor to Vidya Balan, actresses have often been spotted wearing designs made by Hyderabadi designers.

Suhani Pittie, who has designed for Sonam on various occasions says, “I have worked with Sonam for so long that now it’s not hard to catch the drift. This time, at Cannes, she is wearing our jewellery on three occasions.” Suhani has had great experiences with celebrities wearing her jewellery at international events. She says, “Vidya Balan wore our work at the International Film Festival 2015 in Australia and I was told that everyone was asking her about the jewellery.”

The fashion fraternity is a small one that meets up when fashion weeks take place and that is mostly where contacts are made. Archana Rao, whose designs have been worn by Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Rakul Preet and many other celebrities, says, “We have a catalogue of our collections at the fashion week and stylists often pick it up. For me, it all started in 2013 at the LFW.”

Archana had also won the Vogue fashion fund and she says that it did help her gain popularity. “But it’s the designs and products that matter more. Even though Anaita Shroff Adjania, Deepika Padukone’s stylist, knows me, I’m sure if she selects my garments, it’s because the product is good,” says Archana.

For designer Anushree Reddy, it’s her fashion shows that do the trick. One of the first celebrities to be spotted in her design was Madhuri Dixit for the show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa. “Stylists have ramp shots from our fashion week collections and they get in touch with us. Nowadays, we get regular calls from stylists for shoots or editorials for magazines,” she says.
