Wi-Fi at Guntur railway gets delayed

Guntur, considered an A-class station, earns more than Rs 6 crore

GUNTURThe railway department sanctioned releasing order for free Wi-Fi facility for passengers at Guntur railway junction recently, under its nationwide e-Governance concept, last month. However, the officials concerned are delaying the process, citing technical reasons.
 
As part of the central government's efforts to offer nation-wide free internet facilities at all major railway junctions, it was decided that a free Wi-Fi hotspot facility would be provided at Guntur railway junction.
 
Guntur, considered an A-class station, earns more than Rs 6 crore.  At present, free Wi-Fi is already available at New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Secunderabad. Passen-gers can avail free Wi-fi facility for the first 30 minutes and thereafter they have to pay according to the usage.  Railway senior DCM G. Sriramulu said they cannot say when the facility would commence.
