Tom Hardy meets his match at Mad Max premiere

A surprise guest at the premiere of Mad Max: Fury Road on Thursday night made for a few time-lapsing photo ops, when Tom Hardy, who took up the mantle of Mel Gibson’s character in the rebooted Mad Max flick was joined by the actor himself on the red carpet.

While the premiere itself didn’t see any awkward moments between the two, Hardy, while speaking to Details Magazine, said his first meeting with Gibson was a little awkward for him. “Because I’m taking on Max, I have to meet Max. It’s awkward. ‘You’re Mad Max. I’m Tommy Hardy and I’m playing him.’”, the actor said, also mentioning that “ordinary people” like Mad Max were his favourite kind of hero.
