Anurag Kashyap’s period drama Bombay Velvet may have recreated the Mumbai or Bombay of the 1960’s, but the film wasn’t shot in the city. In fact, it wasn’t even shot in India, but in Sri Lanka.
The team spent a lot of time and effort in trying to get the film’s look right. Says a source, "The set was created in Sri Lanka over 9.5 acres of land. The team spent 11 months constructing the sets from scratch. They paid a lot of attention to detail, right from the building facades to their interiors.
The source adds, "They even laid out roads and tried to replicate street signs. The team did go to great lengths to recreate the bygone era."
