After the cult-classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, three decades ago, director Kundan Shah is ready with yet another political satire P Se PM Tak. And much like JBDY, this one too, will have a corpse playing a major role in the film.

Says Shah, “Yes, the interval point onwards, there is a dead man in the plot. But P Se PM Tak is not a sequel to Jaane Bhi DoYaaron. In fact, I’ve written a formal sequel to Jaane Bi Do Yaaron and that doesn’t have a corpse as a character.”

Having said that, Kundan Shah admits that there are certain recurrent elements in all his films. “So in a way, P Se PM Tak is an extension to my treatise on corruption in JBDY. There are bound to be certain similarities in everything I do, just as in Guru Dutt’s films where a tormented, tortured protagonist was a constant element.”

P Se PM Tak is Shah’s first release after Ek Se Badhkar Ek in 2004. “The market reality has changed. We can only hope for the best,” he says, fingers crossed.
