CB-CID files murder case against trigger-happy cop

ChennaiA suspended sub inspector in Ramanathapuram who shot dead a 30-year-old man in cold blood inside a police station has been charged with murder.
Tamil Nadu CB-CID team, which was investigating the case of sub inspector Kalidoss gunning down a man in a police station in Ramanathapuram in October last year,  filed a report with a Ramanathapuram judicial magistrate court after altering the case from unnatural death to murder (IPC 302).
 
Syed Mohamed, 30, who was taken to policestation for enquiry on a complaint against him, was shot dead by  SI A. Kalidoss after he allegedly attacked the policeman in SP Patinam station. Sub-inspector Kalidoss gunned down Syed Mohammed with his service pistol.  Syed was taken to the station after  Arul Raj , a mechanic, lodged a complaint against him. 
 
The SI had opened three rounds of fire in very short range killing Syed Mohammed on the spot. Kalidoss then got himself admitted to Ramanathapuram government general hopsital sying he was injured in attack by Syed Mohamed. A Kathir, human rights activist, pointed out it was rare case that a policeman killing members of public had been charged with murder. “A policeman was charged with murder 15 years ago, while so many people have been  killed in police encounters in between,” he pointed out.
