Chennai: President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed former Andhra Pradesh Governor C Rangarajan as the Chancellor of University of Hyderabad.

Mukherjee, the Visitor of the university, appointed Rangarajan for a term of three years, a release from Madras School of Economics (MSE) said here today.

A former Reserve Bank of India governor, Rangarajan is currently serving as Chairman of the MSE and President of Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.

Rangarajan had also headed the Prime Minster's Economic Advisory Council.
