IAS officer DK Ravi was pestering woman IAS officer to marry him: CID

Bengaluru: The woman IAS officer, with whom IAS officer D.K. Ravi was allegedly in love, has told investigators that Mr. Ravi was behind her and was pestering her to marry him, though she was married.

The CID officials, who are probing the suicide case of Mr. Ravi, interrogated the woman officer on Monday evening. Sources in the CID confirmed that Mr. Ravi had taken the extreme step because of his personal problems and rubbished the theories that any ‘pressure’ or ‘blackmail’ had droved the upright officer to commit suicide.

“The statement of the woman IAS officer has been recorded by the investigating team. She has made it clear that Ravi was her friend but he was in love with her, though both were married.

“He was repeatedly pestering her to marry him for which she denied.

On Monday morning, before he ended his life, he called her several times and pestered her to marry him and also threatened that he would take an extreme step if she denied. However, the woman officer told him clearly that she cannot marry him after which he hanged himself,” a senior officer said.

Meanwhile, the cyber experts have found that Mr. Ravi had sent his last text message to the woman officer suggesting that he was going to end his life.

“It meant something like ‘we will meet again in next birth’”, the officer added.

It is also said that the CID will submit its preliminary report to the government in a day or two and government is planning the table the report in the ongoing legislative sessions. “The gist of the woman officer’s statement will be tabled by the government to stop the opposition from demanding CBI probe into the matter,” the officer said.

Family refuses to answer CID team

CID officials visited Ravi’s hometown in Tumakuru and met his family members on Thursday. However, they declined to give them statements and said they will do so only if the case was handed over to the CBI.

A team of CID officers, led by DySP A. Kumaraswamy, went to Doddakoppalu in Kunigal taluk of Tumakuru district on Thursday evening. The family members, including Ravi’s parents and siblings, refused to give their statement and did not cooperate. They said that they will give their statements only to CBI.

The officials later convinced the family members and they even made some statements, but again refused to sign statement copies.
