Budget 2015: Overall development to be achieved by 2022

Rs 346.99 crore allocated for NREGA scheme

Mumbai:  Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced the Modi government’s goal of overall development will be achieved by the year 2022, the 75th year of India’s Independence.

The overall development plan has every family in the country to have a roof over their heads as its cornerstone goal. The families will have at least one earning member. The house where they will be living would be connected to at least one major road.

To achieve this goal, Jaitley on Saturday announced that 2 crore houses have to be built in urban areas, and 4 crore houses have to be built in the rural areas.

The Finance Minister has allocated Rs 346.99 crore to the NREGA scheme.

The approved labour budget in this scheme for the current financial year is Rs 220.63 crore. By raising the amount allocated to NREGA, Jaitley aims to generate employment for every household in India.

The act aims to enhance the livelihood security of people in rural areas by guaranteeing hundred days of wage-employment in a financial year.

The Finance Minister while presenting his Union Budget 2015 highlighted Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat campaign, and transparent coal auctions as the government's acheivements.
