Hyderabad: Though the TS government’s recent ‘land regularisation scheme’ turned out to be a ‘big flop’ due to poor response , it is moving ahead to come out with a ‘building regularisation scheme’ next month.

Guidelines for the building regularisation scheme are being drafted which will be sent to the government for approval. It is estimated it could earn nearly Rs 2,000 crore.
Earlier, the government had hoped to earn Rs 5,000 crore through LRS, but could get only Rs 11 crore so far. With just four days left for the February 28 deadline to end for LRS, the chances of getting even Rs 15 crore revenue looks bleak.

The TS government had issued two GOs 58 and 59 in January to regularise lands. While GO 58 was aimed at regularising lands free of cost for poor up to 125  sq. yards, GO 59 was aimed at regularising lands over 125 sq. yards by collecting registration charges as per market rates.

The TRS government is now exploring the ‘BRS option’ to earn revenue, keeping in mind the ‘stupendous success’ of earlier BRS implemented by the previous government in 2007. Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao held a meeting to this regard.
