New Delhi: Many within the government on Tuesday indicated that “Policy paralysis 2.0” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi could also be responsible for the BJP’s humiliating defeat at the hands of the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP in the Delhi Assembly elections.

They insisted that so far, it has mostly been mere symbolism and continuation of the UPA government’s programmes, starting from Jan Dhan to Swachh Bharat. The UPA previously ran these programmes under the names Nirmal Bharat and “financial inclusion”.

Sources in the government said though a fresh slogan of “Make in India” was given, there was no clarity as to how this initiative will help in pushing manufacturing in the country in a big way, which could lead to creating job opportunities. They went on to say that India even came to a virtual standstill for 15 days before the Budget with entire Cabinet working for the Delhi polls.
