Hyderabad: The impact of SHE teams in the city has become more pronounced with hundreds of citizens informing the team about spots where stalkers lurk. The Inbox and Wall of Cyberabad SHE teams’ Facebook page is flooded with tip-offs and complaints from parents, teachers and victims. The police has arrested 50 eve-teasers in the last 45 days in Cyberabad commissionerate limits. The most offenders were caught from Madhapur, IT corridor area, and other places were many private colleges are located.

Many citizens have called the number 100 to alert SHE teams. Complaints regarding cyber stalking have been pouring into the Inbox of SHE teams. They have been transferred to the Cyber crime station. Malkajgiri DCP R. Rama Rajeswari, who leads the SHE team, said, “Among the arrested are teenage boys, aged men, and educated people. There are people with B.Tech degrees and marketing jobs among the offenders.” In one incident, Seetharam Ravinder, 35, a trader, allegedly flashed several woman at the Saroornagar bus stop. A SHE team reached there following information from locals and arrested him.



“People calling 100 is really effective and SHE teams react rapidly. In one incident at the Cherlapaly industrial area, a drunkard named Vijaykumar, 26, stalked a 29-year-old woman and followed her till her home. He caught her and demanded sexual favours. Local people alerted 100, and our team reached there in a few minutes. The offender was arrested and booked for molestation,” said Ms Rajeswari

Many have also lodged complaints on Facebook. “More than 50 complaints were related to cyber stalking and cyber bullying and we referred them to the Cyberabad cyber crime police station. On other complaints regarding stalking, we took action by sending our teams,” said the DCP. SHE team officials say that any girls can approach cops through any available means, and the SHE teams will take action. The police will not reveal the identity of those who give information. SHE teams have also been conducting decoy operations in pre-identified hotspots and are booking cases against offenders. Sixty SHE teams have been pressed into action across Cyberabad.
