Mumbai: One may feel enough of Team India – due to their poor performances in the recent past – but it is difficult to feel saturated with Ravi Shastri, the Team Director. With the serious Duncan Fletcher in the scheme of things, have you ever wondered what Shastri actually does in the unit?

He joined the men in blue from August 2014 and situation hasn’t changed much except for a home series win against Sri Lanka, two drawn Tests against Australia and a One Day International (ODI) triangular series loss Down Under.

Let us imagine what India’s favourite cricket commentator did in the last six months.

Guiding Duncan Fletcher: The foreigner must be baffled with so many Sharmas around. Shastri helps the old man identify between Mohit, Ishant, Rohit (also Anushka).

Guiding legends before and passing on the legacy: Mr Shastri cannot do anything wrong. He is the reason behind Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries as well as Rahul Dravid shining in T20 cricket for Rajasthan Royals.

Tackling Virat Kohli: Only Mr Shastri can control Virat Kohli and tell him not to abuse on field.

Apart from that, he also played the role of a parent keeping an eye on his child.

Who’s the teacher, here? Even ‘Sir’ Ravindra Jadeja bows down in front of him and listens to his advice.

When Mr Shastri gets bored, he turns to wags, sorry, we meant Waz (Wasim Akram). Remember, the Shaz and Waz show?
