Free saplings at Godavari fete

Hyderabad: The AP government has decided to give 'Vriksha Prasadam' to devotees at Godavari Pushkarams. Plants like Tulasi and other ‘holy plants’ will be distributed. VIPs who visit the Godavari Pushkarams will be asked to plant saplings. The municipal administration department said a consultant will be hired for the ‘smooth conduct’ of pushkarams.

The TTD is already implementing a Vriksha Prasadam scheme in which devotees can donate money for which there is 100 per cent tax exemption. The saplings bought will be planted in the Tirumala forests.

To clean up the Godavari the municipal department has asked the PCB to sanction the Godavari action plan. The department has decided to ready mobile toilets, bio toilets and e-toilets for devotees.

Officials were asked to put signage showing ways to bus stations, railway station and bathing ghats Vendors will be given identifiaction numbers and license by the Rajahmundry municipality. It was also decided to renovate and decorate the Kandukuri Veerasalingam school, college, residence and tombs.
