Swine flu claims 5 more lives in Telangana in a single day

Institute of Preventive Medicine reported 50 H1N1 cases, which takes total cases to 213

Hyderabad: Three more patients in Gandhi Hospital and two in Osmania General Hospital succumbed to H1N1 on Tuesday, taking the death toll to 12 in Telangana.

On Tuesday, the Institute of Preventive Medicine reported 50 positive H1N1 cases, which takes the total number of cases in January to 213.

The 30-year-old woman who died in the Gandhi Hospital was brought in a very critical condition from a private hospital. She was on ventilator support and died before she could be admitted. Angry family members staged a dharna outside the hospital.

The other deaths on Tuesday were those of a 35-year-old man from Mahbubnagar, a  40-year-old woman from Asifnagar, and two women, aged 34 and 36 from Shantinagar and Jeedimetla.
