New Delhi: Battlelines for the Delhi Assembly polls were drawn on Saturday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi launching a blistering attack on Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP convener. Without naming Mr Kejriwal, the PM took a dig at him by saying those who believe in anarchy should “go to the jungles and join Naxalites”.

Kick-starting the BJP’s campaign for the Assembly elections on Saturday at Ramlila Maidan, Mr Modi said: “Those who have mastery in sitting on pavements to organise agitations should be given only that role... the BJP has mastery in good governance and should be offered that role.”

Attacking the AAP chief, Mr Modi said there was a leader who claimed to be an “anarchist” and if he wanted to be one, he should go to the jungles to join the Naxals as Delhi cannot have anarchy. Leading a protest about a year ago as the chief minister of Delhi, Mr Kejriwal had said that he is an “anarchist”.

Reacting strongly, Mr Kejriwal attacked the Prime Minister for making “personal remarks”. He claimed that the BJP in Delhi is a “ship without a captain and has no positive agenda left in this election”.
