Bhopal: A 21-year-old brandished a sword to chase away five unidentified armed robbers from her house in Bhopal this week.

Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur, who visited her on Thursday, said he would recommend her for a bravery award.

Charanpreet Kaur was studying for her second-year engineering examinations on the second floor of her family's home, when she heard some noises early on Wednesday morning.

She saw some masked men downstairs who had sneaked into their house.

While her family was asleep on the first floor, Charanpreet whipped out a 4-foot long sword, kept at home for religious reasons since she is from a Sikh family.

She screamed at the robbers with the sword in her hand. The gang ran away.
