Kottayam: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has ruled out the involvement of Maoists in the  violent incidents in Palakkad and Wayanad on Monday.

“The anti-social elements hurled  stones  in the cover of darkness at the  two places.   We do not  think  Maoists are behind them,”  Mr Chennithala  said.

The government was attempting to face these attacks with the help of the local people.  “The public should not  panic  over these incidents.

The government is determined to face them with the help of the public,”  Mr Chennithala said.

Earlier,  the minister told reporters at Sabarimala that the government  was monitoring the latest  incidents.
