VijayawadaIn a novel move to provide relief from regular traffic noise on roads, Vijayawada police has set up a band to play music on important junctions in the evening. To the surprise of the commuters, on Friday evening,  a music band comprising AR constables was found playing soft music on roads at Benz Circle.

Speaking to this correspondent, Vijayawada commissioner  A.B. Venkateswara Rao said, “To add colour and beauty to the evening life of Vijayawada, we are playing music at major centres. Music will be played at each centre on each day, unless the band has some official work”.

The band members  bring chairs with them and perform without causing any inconvenience to public. “This is not inspired from any other state or culture. This is first of its kind. We had planned this 10 years ago. But it could not be implemented at that time. Now, the police band has come to reality,” said Mr Rao.
