Police has booked a case under Sections 376 of IPC and 5 and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.

KOZHIKODE: A senior civil police officer attached to Nadapuram police station, who was accused of leaking out the case records in the LKG student sexual abuse case at Darul Huda English medium school, has been transferred and posted at Vadakara police station.

Senior civil police officer Majeed was transferred by Kozhikode Rural SP P.H. Asharaf  after  Nadapuram CI A.S. Suresh Kumar sent a report against him for leaking the case records and handing them over to Thamarassery DySP Jaison K. Abraham, allegedly to scuttle the probe into the case and  aid the school management.

The Nadapuram CI  sent the report to North Zone ADGP Shanker Reddy and the Rural SP after they found out that Majeed had taken out the case records and handed them over to the DySP at his residence.

Sources told DC that Majeed had taken out the identification parade recordings, the victim’s statements and other case records from Nadapuram  to help the school management which  had been protesting against the arrest of two Madrassa students in the case.

The Nadapuram police suggested that some persons had offered money to the policemen to divert the probe. The school management has been maintaining that a bus cleaner was the original accused in the  case.

The Thamarassry DySP, Majeed and another police constable were instrumental in taking Muneer, the bus cleaner,  into custody when the Nadapuram DySP was on leave, and efforts were made to record the arrest of Muneer.

However, when the public and the parents of the victim protested, the police had to release Muneer. Sources told DC that Majeed  took Muneer into custody and brought him to Nadapuram station without informing any senior officials involved in the investigation.
