Emraan Hashmi: India’s Matthew McConaughey?

Mumbai: Emraan Hashmi seems to have created a lasting impression on Oscar winner Danis Tanovic. The director who won the Academy Award for No Man’s Land recently revealed that he was surprised to know how settled, calm and modest Emraan is in real life. What’s more, Danis who has worked with some of the biggest names in international cinema, can’t help but compare Emraan and Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey.

Says Danis, “When people ask me how it was working with Emraan Hashmi, I tell them he’s like Matthew McConaughey. Matthew was this guy in these comedies and then you watch Dallas Buyers Club and you go ‘wow!’ Emraan is ‘wow’ in this film.” The director continues, “I think Emraan is a great actor. Before I cast him, I watched him in Shanghai, so my first image of him is completely different from the Indian viewer. I don’t care about his commercial image. First time I met him, I really liked the guy, because Emraan, unlike what you see on screen, is very settled, calm and modest. He is a nice guy.”
