Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has given his assent for starting a full-fledged investigation by the anti-corruption bureau against former deputy CM Ajit Pawar and former irrigation minister Sunil Tatkare in an irrigation scam involving crores.

Mr Pawar allegedly cleared 38 projects worth Rs 20,000 crore without clearance from the Vidarbha irrigation development corporation when he was water resources minister between 1999 and 2009.

Mr Tatkare, who succeeded Mr Pawar, faces allegations of clearing funds for projects that saw massive cost escalations.

Sources said the ACB had found prime facie evidence in its inquiry against the NCP leaders. Mr Pawar said, “We are ready to go before any inquiry. We do not have a problem as the truth will come out.”
