Mumbai: Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan, filed a complaint with the Mumbai police on Friday, against an imposter running an email account in his name. The actor who was recently voted as the ‘Sexiest Asian Man’, alleged that the person has been using the account for unethical purposes.
Reports suggest that the person operating this account has been using it to reach out to the actor’s fans and also members of the film industry.
In the four-page letter to police commissioner Rakesh Maria, Hrithik mentioned that many of his fans and members of the Bollywood industry had told him that they were communicating with him over the ‘hroshan@email.com’ email id. When he tried telling them that the id did not belong to him, they weren’t ready to accept it.
In his letter he also states that he is aware of the lengths fans go to for their ‘Superstar’, by writing poems, love letters, marriage proposals and sometimes even death threats. Hrithik voiced his concerns for a female fan in particular who had sent a number of pictures and videos to the email id thinking it was the actor. Taking precaution for the same, the actor doesn’t want any of the material being misused that could ‘ruin their reputation’.
When asked, the police commissioner told PTI, "We are probing the complaint to identify the perpetrator." Police are likely to register an FIR in this regard in a day or two.
