Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government strongly objected to the claim of the Telangana government about the institutions under the 10th Schedule of the State Reorganisation Act quoting Section 75 of the Act.

The Telangana government’s argument is that according to Section 75, most of the institutions mentioned in the 10th Schedule are located at Hyderabad and belong to them.

But, the Andhra Pradesh government says that Section 75 only deals with provision of services and does not talk of sharing of assets and liabilities.

In the recent meeting with Union home secretary Anil Goswami, AP government chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao submitted a detailed note in support of AP’s argument.

The Telangana government’s claim on institutions under 10th Schedule quoting Section 75 of Reorganisation Act in not correct as the Section does not deal with assets and liabilities, said Mr Krishna Rao in his note.

He said the actual sharing of assets and liabilities is under Section 64, which reads “the benefit or burden of any asset or liability of the existing state of Andhra Pradesh not dealt with in the foregoing provisions of this part shall pass to the state of Andhra Pradesh in the first instance.”
