New Delhi: After coming in for severe criticism for replacement of German with Sanskrit in Kendriya Vidyalayas and being targeted by several political parties for trying to impose Sanskrit on their region, the Centre is understood to have directed the CBSE to ask all schools affiliated to it to keep one week for the regional language of the state each year.

The CBSE has also been directed to observe February 21, 2015 as Matrubhasha Diwas (Mother Tongue Day). Sources stated that the “curriculum committee of the CBSE has decided to direct all the schools affiliated to the CBSE to keep one week for the regional language/ languages of the state in which the school is situated.”
