Washington: US President Barack Obama urged calm on Monday as violent protests broke out on the streets of Ferguson after a grand jury decided a white policeman will not face charges.
“I join Michael’s parents in asking anyone who protests this decision to do so peacefully,” Obama said, adding: “I appeal to the law enforcement officials to show restraint in managing peaceful protests that may occur.”
