7-kilogram bomb wrapped in towel found in Assam train

Rangiya, Assam: A powerful bomb, weighing more than seven kilograms, was recovered from a train compartment in Assam today, police said.

Security personnel spotted a plastic bag covered with a towel and wires sticking out in front a toilet on the Lumding-Kamakhya Express.

They immediately informed officials and the train was halted at Kendukona station, 52 kilometres from the state capital of Guwahati.

The passengers were asked to disembark and senior police, civil and railway officials along with a dog squad of the Assam Police rushed to the spot and removed the bomb.

A team of bomb experts from Guwahati then defused the bomb.
