BJP, TDP to fight GHMC polls together

Local body elections are likely to be held in Telangana early next year

Hyderabad: NDA partners BJP and TDP would fight the upcoming Hyderabad and other civic body polls in Telangana together, senior TDP leader E Dayakar Rao said on Sunday.

"We decided to work together in the coming corporation elections and local body elections. Some corporation elections are going to be held, like in Khammam, Warangal and Hyderabad. We reached an understanding on working together in these elections. We (TDP leaders) and Kishan Reddy (Telangana BJP president) will discuss and finalise," Dayakar Rao, TDP floor leader in Telangana Legislative Assembly, told reporters here on Sunday.

He was speaking after a meeting of TDP and BJP leaders here.

The local body elections are likely to be held in Telangana early next year.

BJP and TDP contested this year's general elections in alliance in undivided Andhra Pradesh. They now share power at the Centre and in residuary Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Union Labour Minister (independent charge) and BJP's national vice president Bandaru Dattatreya, who met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, said he discussed issues concerning labour ministry among others during the meeting.
