Vinod Bachchan, the producer of Tanu Weds Manu, has finally agreed to sell the rights of the film to Eros. The studio, which is producing the sequel with the same star cast, wouldn’t have been able to release the film if the original producer hadn’t agreed to give the rights.

The sequel got into trouble when director Anand Rai started work on it without informing the original producers. At that time Vinod Bachchan had sent a legal notice to Rai claiming that he didn’t seek permission before starting the film. However, a couple of days ago, Eros head honcho Sunil Lulla brokered a deal with Vinod, for which the latter was paid a handsome amount. When we asked Vinod Bachchan about letting go of the rights, he said, “Yes, I have sold the rights to Eros. But it is not about money, the film is more important than anything else as I am very attached to it. I am happy that Anand Rai is making the sequel and Eros is producing the film.” Of the success of the original film starring R. Madhavan and Kangna Ranaut, Vinod said,  “That film was loved by everyone. Honestly I wanted to produce the film but kya karein... My partners didn’t support me and I am suffering only because of Sailesh Singh.”

When asked if all is well with Anand Rai whom he had signed for the original film, Vinod said, “Yes, he is a wonderful person and I would like to work with him again.”

The TWM sequel of the film has gone on the floors and the first schedule has been completed in Lucknow. Kangna plays a double role in the film, the other one being of a Haryanvi athlete.
