New Delhi: Former Union minister K. Chiranjeevi has been served a notice by the Central Public Works Department asking him to vacate the official bungalow he was allotted as minister with immediate effect.

The notice dated October 31 has been pasted at the entrance of 17, Akbar Road asking him to immediately vacate the Type-VIII bungalow, which he was allotted when he was Union minister. Soon after the UPA lost power and he ceased to be a minister, the CPWD had told him to vacate the bungalow and move to a house according to his eligibility.

The notice serves a warning to the Rajya Sabha Congress member asking him to either vacate the bungalow or that he would be evicted from it. Since Chiranjeevi is no more a minister and just an MP, he needs to move into a bungalow from the Rajya Sabha pool.

Mr Chiranjeevi was not available for comments on the issue. It is being speculated that home minister Rajnath Singh is eyeing the 17, Akbar Road sprawling bungalow being occupied currently by Chiranjeevi.

The bungalow is usually allotted to a senior Union Minister.
