EFL University post-graduate student raped in Hyderabad

The student was allegedly raped by her male friends in the hostel premises

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a post-graduate student was allegedly raped by her male friends at English and Foreign Languages University in Hyderabad on Sunday. The 23 year old girl has approached  the city police alleging that her friends intoxicated her and raped her in the boy’s hostel.

Osmania University police, who received the complaint on Sunday, have taken four people including an ex-student into custody for investigation.

According to the victim’s complaint, two people assaulted her when she was in an intoxicated condition on friday night.

The victim has named two people in the complaint, Nitin Solasamudram, 21, MCJ 1st year student from Hindupur of Ananthapur, and his friend, Raj Simha, 24, an ex-student of the university and native of Rajolu, West Godavari.

Kachiguda ACP Mr.  S Sudhakar said that the police have started an inquiry soon after they received the complaint.

“We have got the complaint on Sunday morning, and the process of investigation has been started. Few people have been questioned as part of inquiry, but no official arrest has been made so far. We have sent the victim for medical examination,” he said.

Sources from EFLU said that a group of students were having a party in the hostel, and the accused people overpowered the victim when she was drunk. “The victim was completely traumatised and was not in a mental condition to approach the police. After her friends supported her, she decided to approach the police,” said a source from the University.   

Two people, who are now being questioned by the police, are relatives of Andhra Pradesh politicians.
