Tremor jolts addanki

Hyderabad/ongole: A low intensity earthquake jolted Addanki in Prakasam district on Thursday. Many people rushed out  of their houses in panic. Local seismology observatories reported that the earthquake’s magnitude was 2.3. Scientists described the event as a very small tremor.

Local authorities said there was no loss of property or life.

The earthquake’s epicentre was about 16 km northwest of Addanki in Prakasam district.

The exact time was recorded  as 7.26 pm on Thursday. Dr D. Srinagesh, head of the Seismology Observatory at National Geophysical Research Institute said, “It was a very small tremor with a magnitude of 2.3. It is not so unusual in that region.”
Mild tremors were felt in Sanampudi, Chinakancharla, Mathukumalli, Vaykallu, Yenugupalem and Karumanchi on Thursday night.
