Chennai:  TNCC president B.S. Gnanadesikan who quit his post said, “I was not comfortable for the last three months. My repeated requests to appoint TNCC secretaries went unheeded. Many deserving, hardworking and eligible youngsters are waiting for their opportunity, while those who have got the posts neither attend meeting nor work for the party.”

He was referring to office-bearers owing allegiance to former Union finance minister P. Chidambaram who had been repeatedly boycotting the meeting convened by Gnanadesikan.
Party functionaries close to Gnanadesikan said that he was upset with AICC general secretary in-charge of TN Mukul Wasnik eliciting views from the state about his successor even while he was actively coordinating with the party high command over rejuvenating the party.

Senior leader Sudarshana Natchiappan and AICC secretary Thirunavukkarasar were among a few who had influenced the AICC to probably unseat Gnanadesikan. A party senior close to Vasan said, “Gnanadesikan consulted Vasan this morning before tendering his resignation. After three months, Gnanadesikan visited Delhi on Tuesday to express his dissatisfaction and tender his resignation.”

REVIVE TMC: The AICC’s instruction to remove the pictures of veteran leaders Kamarajar and Moopanar from the membership drive was the last straw that further infuriated the Vasan camp, who were insisting on the former shipping minister reviving TMC louder than ever even ahead of the LS polls. “We have been demanding Vasan to revive TMC. He delayed so far. Now, AICC is forcing him to take that crucial decision,” said a leader.
