Alert to remain high at Kochi Airport, AI plane lands safely

The Air India flight IX 412, which landed in Kochi on Saturday morning from Sharjah via Mumbai carrying 123 passengers, had four security personnel on board since it was facing a threat.

Kochi: Even as two flights that were facing the threat of suicide bombers landed safely at the Mumbai and Kochi airports on Friday night and Saturday morning respectively, the Kochi international airport authorities decided to review the situation only on Monday and then decide on extending  the security alert.

Monday’s meeting will be attended by airport director A.C.K. Nair, CISF commandant Sisirkumar Gupta, chief security officer P. Gowrisankar and various airlines officials. Personnel of the quick response wing and bomb detection and disposal squad are still keeping guard at  the airport.
