THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Over 50 former state-level Youth Congress   leaders who worked during the presidentship  of Mr M. Liju and Mr P. C. Vishnunath  are likely to get into the KPCC leadership.

KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran has  recommended the names of 54 leaders to the AICC to be inducted into the KPCC.

KPCC general secretaries Mr Liju and Mr Vishnunath have been demanding a fair representation  to their old colleagues for quite some time now.

With  organisational elections  round the corner, the 54 YC leaders are likely to get a platform to contest the elections. In fact, youth leaders who were not attached to any groups did not have the backing of any senior Congress leaders. The AICC leadership has to give the final consent for their induction into the KPCC.

“We have been asking the KPCC leadership to induct  these youth leaders into the party as most of them are keen to contest the upcoming organisational elections. But  they have to get  a platform and the door is most likely to be opened  by the AICC leadership soon,” Mr Liju told DC.

During Mr Liju’s tenure in 2010, there were 36 state representatives and 14 district presidents.  Mr Vishnunath who followed Mr Liju had only a four-member committee consisting of prominent YC leaders like Liju, Mathew Kuzhalnadan and Manoj Moothedan.
