Hyderabad: Education minister G. Jagadish Reddy held parleys with officials a couple of days ago on the issue of bifurcation of Board of Intermediate Education in the face of mounting delay.

However, sources said that the Chief Minister has given his go-ahead and signed on the file pertaining to the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education. A new secretary to the Board will also be appointed by the government shortly.

There will be a meeting soon to decide the formal bifurcation of assets and staff of the existing Board of Intermediate Education. With this, however, the conduct of Intermediate examinations in Telangana could be delayed since the TBIE would be understaffed to begin with.

TSCHE till date is without funds or staff and remains a toothless body, while its Andhra Pradesh counterpart is calling the shots. Telangana government will also issue a formal GO on the decision.

The move was on the cards for some time now though the Andhra Pradesh government is in favour of not splitting the Board for now. Marks obtained in Intermediate also carry weight in common Eamcet.
