Police has booked a case under Sections 376 of IPC and 5 and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.

Panaji: A 64-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his minor niece in South Goa district, the police said on Sunday.

The accused, Kondlo Vithoba Velip, living in Morpirla village of Quepem taluka, allegedly confined the 10-year-old girl in a room at a house in his neighbourhood where he raped her on Saturday, a police spokesman said.

The accused was immediately arrested, he said.

Cuncolim police have registered a case against Velip under sections 342 (wrongful confinement) and 376 (rape) of IPC, section 8(ii) of Goa Children's Act and sections 3 and 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, the spokesman added.
