Hyderabad: The eight properties around Charminar, which were a hurdle for the completion of the Charminar Pedestrian Project, have been acquired by the GHMC. The properties were pending for acquisition since 1986 and various court cases were also pending against the GHMC.

The properties, located in Panchmohalla, Mogalpura, affected the road widening process at the junction of inner ring road around Charminar and Charminar main road.  After vigorous persuasion by the authorities, on Thursday, cheques were handed over to the owners Shareef Bibi and Mohammad Salim.
