Hyderabad: Rescue operations are on to save a four-year-old girl who fell into a 300-foot-deep abandoned borewell at Manchal mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Sunday morning.

G. Girija slipped into the borewell when she had gone to relieve herself while her grandparents were busy working in the fields. Sources said that she was at around 45-foot depth.

Rescue operators including National Disaster Response Force and fire officials were digging the land parallel to the borewell.
An oxygen pipe had been dropped into the hole to help the victim breathe, said officials.

Experts from the State Disaster Response and Fire Services department said that in the area, water was found at about 40-foot depth and if there was water in the hole in which the girl had fallen, her chances of survival was minimal. Ranga Reddy district officials said that the rescue operation was progressing quickly.
