Kochi: Abbas, working in Doha, used to update nostalgic posts on Facebook  calling himself  “a man who was forced to love ‘kuboos.’”  Abbas became an internet sensation and users flocked to his profile to read his posts. Now a book, containing his FB postings, is all set for  launch.

It was in an attempt to end  his loneliness that Abbas chose Facebook.  He started calling himself  ‘Abbas Kuboosine Pranayikkendavan’  (a man who was forced to love kuboos) and started writing on Facebook. Abbas chose a variety  of topics for his posts.  Often philosophical and thought-provoking, his each post  attracts over 5,000 followers. He also  interacts with the followers.

“When I started my NRI life, we (room-mates) used to talk to each other for hours but with the development of technology and internet the interaction became less. Everyone was glued to the laptops and I also opened a Facebook account and started to interact with friends. Soon my posts became viral and I decided to concentrate more on my writing,” said Abbas.

Abbas has over  30,000 followers on Facebook and he also owns a blog. The book, also named  ‘Abbas Kuboosine Pranayikkendavan,’  is published by Mankarni Publications based in Kozhikode. Abbas considers its publication  as one of the major achievements in his life. A Plus-Two certificate holder,  Abbas has selected 30 posts for the book. The book launch would be held at Kanjirappuzha, his native place, on Sunday.
