Belgaum: KPCC president, Dr G Parameshwar admitted on Thursday that becoming deputy chief minister was one of his many ambitions in life.

Asked whether he still hoped to occupy the post some day although the party high command and the Chief Minister did not seem too keen on creating it,  Dr Parameshwar told reporters at the Belgaum airport  that while it was one of his many ambitions he was leaving it the party to  decide. “I would like to become deputy chief minister soon as it is one of my  many ambitions but I  leave it to the high command to decide. It is the Chief Minister’s prerogative to expand the state cabinet or do a reshuffle,” he said.

When his attention was drawn to the recent statement of AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh that the party had given a free hand to the CM to expand his cabinet and take a decision on whether to have a deputy Chief Minister or not, Dr  Parameshwar said both the KPCC chief and the CM were bound to fall in line with whatever the  general secretary said.

He also said the party had nearly completed the   selection of candidates for posts in state boards and would  announce names in the next few days.
